30 for 30 Lohn Style – Photo of the Day April 2010

Last year I read about Project 365 – taking a photo a day for any entire year.  I thought it would be cool to try, but it is too big of a commitment, so I figured continuing on with the Photo of the Week would be good enough.

Bear with me, but if you remember in July/August of 2008 I went 15 for 15, 15 posts in 15 days – post 15 things on thelohns.com in 15 days that was my mission, no other rules.  Well a couple of months after that – yes it was after that (mediocre minds think alike or I read about it elsewhere), I read The Power of Less and it talks about creating habits by doing something for an entire month – very similar to 15 post in 15 days, except double the time.

Continue to bear with me here, but I think one of the best things on TV these days is ESPN’s 30 for 30 as their website describes it:

“An unprecedented documentary series featuring thirty films from some of today’s finest storytellers. Each filmmaker will bring their passion and personal point of view to their film detailing the issues, trends, athletes, teams, rivalries, games and events that transformed the sports landscape from 1979 to 2009.”

My personal favorite so far is “The U”.

Finally last week, I finished reading the book, 50/50: Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days — and How You Too Can Achieve Super Endurance! – it’s about Dean Karnazes running 50 marathons in 50 days in 50 states.  Pretty impressive and inspiring.

What’s this all mean, what’s the point?

My challenge for April 2010 is that I’m going to take a photo a day for 30 days and post it out to this site.  I can’t promise I’ll actually post one everyday, but I’ll take the picture and each day will have it’s own post.  So at the end of April, there will be 30 photos out here – there will also be the standard photo of the week each week, which may or may not be a photo of the day.  I don’t really have any rules other than each photo will be thought out and worked at and taken on the day it claims to be.  There will be some bad ones and I hope there will be some good ones.  I’m going to experiment with the camera more and more, so there may be a few bad ones.  That’s the whole point – to learn some new things.  I’ll have a POTD category (Photo Of The Day) to see all the posts and I’ll use flickr and picasa to handle the photos.  So here goes…
